comrade-babygirl:

I got to hang out with texacala jones last night from tex and the horseheads. We talked about back when she was dating Jeffrey lee pierce and the gun club. She bought me a beer and introduced me to some cool folks. She lives here and wants to hang out so I’m fucking stoked. Anyway life sucks waaay less. I met the coolest woman ever.

I caught this amazing Gun Club gig as a teen at the Town & Country Club in London, Nov. ‘87, with Rowland S. Howard’s These Immortal Souls opening.  Jeffrey Lee Pierce looked all the world like Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.  It nearly blew my head off.

fuck yeah fuck yeah!

Well, she was wild

She would do anything

Crawl her head over backwards

Like it was 1963
She sleeps in garbage

Oh shit, should I be alone?

She’s got a simple case

Of what they call some kinda mental health
She went wild over across the sea

What everybody’s dreaming of

isThunderhead’s falling in love
Yeah, she was wild

She would go anywhereI took her to Egypt and India

Man, I took her everywhere
But now she sleeps in garbage

But shit, I be alone

She’s got a simple case

Of what they wanna call some strange kinda mental health
She went wild over across the sea

What everybody’s dreaming of isThunderhead’s falling in love?
But she was wildShe would go anywhereShe dived down over backwardsLike I never even knew that she was there
But now it was garbageShould I be alone? She’s got a simple caseOf what they call some kinda mental illness
She went wild over across the seasWhat everybody’s dreaming of isThunderhead’s falling in love
She, yeah, she was wildShe’d do anythingKisses fruit so nicelyLike I never ever seen
But now she sleeps in garbageBut should I be aloneShe’s got a simple caseOf what they call some kind of mental hell
She went wild over across the seasWhat everybody’s dreamin’ of isThunderhead’s falling in loveShe went wild over across the seasWhat everybody’s dreamin’ of isThunderhead’s falling in love
Yes, Thunderhead’s falling in loveYes, Thunderhead’s falling in loveYes, Thunderhead’s falling in love

Carry Home

JLP understood the very anatomy of blues. He picked it apart and put in back together more beautifully than it previously had ever known.

Come down to the willow garden
with me
come go with me
come go and see

Although I’ve howled across fields and my eyes
turned grey
are yours still the same?
are you still the same?

Carry Home
I have returned
through so many highways
and so many tears

Your letter never survived the heat of
my hand
my burning hand
my sweating hand

Your love never survived the heat of
my heart
my violent heart
in the dark

Carry Home
I have returned
through so many highways
and so many tears

Carry Home to where I am from
carry to the place that I have come
carry to the dust and flies behind me
carry to the cracks and caves on the face of me

Oh, but I didn’t change, I just had to work
Yeah, but I didn’t change, I just had to work
and now I’m home, and now I’m home
do you still want me?
Now, that I’m home

Come down to the willow garden with me
come go with me
come go and see
